Mapping Web Site
Programming Services
ECO provides technical
services and support for
the back-end programming
and re-design of SHA’s
public mapping web pages
in order to improve
usability and
navigation. As part of
this project, sponsored
by Highway Information
Services Division’s
(HISD) Mapping
Committee, we developed
an application to
automate the map
publishing process.
This application enables
HISD users to publish
updated PDF files to the
development server when
the files are updated on
the HISD’s shared
drive. When the updated
PDF dataset is approved,
the program publishes
the maps and related
attributes to SHA’s
Internet site. We also
created a map-ordering
form which automatically
checks the city, state,
and zip code along with
other important
information after the
data is entered. Such
ordering data is
processed by HISD’s Map
Ordering program on the
back end.
Development of Project
Dashboard System
Many
projects at SHA are
funded by the American
Recovery & Reinvestment
Act (ARRA) that has
provided Maryland with
stimulus dollars to
boost the economy,
create new jobs, and
solve the many fiscal
challenges everyone is
facing. Microsoft EXCEL
files are used to store
and track ARRA-funded
highway projects
beginning at July 2009.
ECO designed and
developed a project
dashboard system to
enable users to have a
dynamic insight into the
project information.
ProjectWise
Implementation of
County-wide Grids
The
Maryland State Highway
Administration (SHA)
Highway Information
Systems Division (HISD)
is nearing completion of
an effort to provide
updated state Grid Maps
in MicroStation DGN
format for internal
use. Ultimately, it can
be extended to the
design community which
will benefit SHA and its
consulting partners.
This represents a major
file update, as the
currently published CAD
files for grid maps are
from 2003-2004 and in an
obsolete file format
(V7). ECO provides
technical services to
develop and maintain an
avenue for publication
of MicroStation Grid Map
files (line work,
pattern and annotation)
to be stored in
ProjectWise; provide
avenue for ProjectWise
users to access the
files and provide
feedback; and provide
MicroStation support for
completion of the Grid
Map development effort.
